|Tired of it
I just wish that for a change that something would work out for me socially. I frankly don't know what the problem is anymore. I think I've been meeting the wrong people.

Since it is currently open-enrollment. I've decided to check out Dreamwidth. If you are on there you can find me using the same username as my LJ account.

Just got back from seeing Redline. The animation was kind of cool but there wasn't much of a story to it. There were a few things in it that didn't seem to have much of a point to it. Namely, the flashbacks to the guy, who gave off a totally Akio vibe, that inspired the lead character to get into racing It also was scheduled kind of late (9:30 PM) and actually started a bit later than that due to the previous movie in the festival having a Q & A that went long. Once the plot ran out the cars weren't the only things that were drifting. I tried to sleep in this morning since I knew I'd be out late, but my cats wouldn't hear of it. Trying to concentrate on subtitles when you are tired is tough. At least next week they are showing Summer Wars at 4:30 PM. Summer Wars also looks like a much better movie.

Chris Colfer and the writers of tonight's Glee episode deserve an Emmy. No one else need apply.
To be able to take "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and reinterpret it into a heartfelt, gut-wrenching plea by a son was absolutely amazing. Glee at its best.
|MAS road destruction
So what do people recommend for a route from Brooklyn Park to MAS now that road destruction begins on Washington Avenue this week?
|Friday, September 24th, 2010|
Very blustery today. Hopefully everyone did okay with the all-day soaker yesterday and didn't have flooded basements or anything. Almost all of the back row was missing from MAS last night.
It took until episode 5 but Macross Frontier is finally becoming a decent show. Tonight's episodes were the first ones that weren't paralleling events from the original Macross series. I could finally start caring about the characters. Those first four episodes didn't feel very original and I was worried the entire series was just going to be a badly done, yet pretty, rehash of the original. Fortunately it has now moved on to a more orignal storyline.

As some of you already know, I went down to WDW from 8/29-9/7. I'll be posting more about the trip specifically later but for those of you that have friended me on Facebook I have posted a few video clips from my camera from the Harry Potter queue at Islands of Adventure. I'll be uploading photos soon.

|Star Wars: In Concert
Went to Star Wars: In Concert tonight. In a nutshell, they never quite turned it up to 11. It was good, but it wasn't as good as it could have been. I may have been more impressed if I hadn't ever seen the Dr. Who at the Proms, or Doctor Who: A Celebration concerts.
The exhibition of props and costumes around the outside of the arena was really crowded and lit badly. First of all they did not allow for the sun to case major glare. Plus the monitors showing videos next to the display cases relfected horribly. I got some better pictures during the intermission. In retrospect they probably could have done without the exhibit portion.
Some of the video editing choices were a bit weird. During the 2nd half they were mostly focusing on just the original trilogy and most of the clips used to illustrate the music were from those movies. But then during the Endor battle music they mixed in a few shots of the Gungans from Phantom Menace amongst the other clips mainly from Jedi. After seeing so many really well edited AMVs over the years, there is so much more that could be done with Star Wars videos to really give it a wow factor visually (I'm guessing revolutionaryjo
could linkspam some examples). They did mix things up a bit when they combined some production art in amongnst the movie clips.
In general the concert seemed a bit short for the cost. It was two hours minus a 20 minute intermission. I was expecting them to do more with the lasers timed to the music and video. The numbers that they did that on were very good but there wasn't enough of it. The final number was a bit anticlimactic with it mainly showing the orchestra near the end rather than combining it with clips from the movies as well. I don't know if they usually do an encore but that was entirely video of the orchestra and no lasers, special lighting effects, or even in-stadium fireworks (they did plan this for sports arenas after all).
The energy level in the crowd seemed a bit low. It wasn't a sellout for the evening show. I was on the main floor and there were several rows near the front of my section that were almost completely empty. Guess the scalpers lost their shirts on some of the higher priced tickets. I at least had a very good view since I mainly only had one row in front of me to contend with. I'm curious if the afternoon concert was a sellout. If not, maybe they should have done just one show. Also, as good as the accoustics are for a rock concert in the Xcel, I don't think it is really the right venue for an orchestra. I'd take the concept, scale it down and do it for a place like the Ordway or Orchestra Hall instead. Sometimes less is more.

To put it simply, Matt Smith IS the Doctor now.

|One year later
A year ago this evening my little Mittens kitty was born. Doesn't seem like it should be a year already. He can be a bit of a stinker at times, but he's also a real sweetheart. Tonight he was all nuzzled up next to me while I was watching TV. Very nice.
My parents currently have 6 really cute stray kittens and their mother taking up residence in their backyard. They are about six weeks old. Mom says they are all boys. She'd like to see at least some of them make it to a good home. Let me know if you are interested.

Not sure why the clerk at Toys R Us didn't ask me to sign up for their credit card as well as their rewards program when I bought my PS3. As I was registering my rewards info online I saw an ad for their MasterCard which said I could save 10% on my first purchase. Would have saved me over $30 if she had me sign up.
|Tech geek opinions wanted
Okay, so now that I have bought a PS3, I need to buy an HD-TV to use it with. Any recommendations for TVs about 40"s or so. Also, any opinions/recommendations on whether I should mount the TV on a wall, set on a stand, or buy a stand that has a mount built into it?

Well I'm glad to see Flashforward is back and that V will be back shortly. Now if only audiences come back as well. I was really enjoying Flashforward when they took it off the air about 4 months ago. Not a good plan to build an audience in my opinion. I hate the "fall finale" model the networks have developed. It's stupid. I doubt V will have much of a chance of regaining it's audience since they only showed 4 episodes to start with.

The cats finally moved in today. They were here alone for a bit after Mom dropped them off. I think they were a little surprised to see me. Snuggles had visited briefly with Mom last week but neither of them had seen me there before. So far Mittens has been my little shadow trying to keep track of me. Snuggles would have probably liked to have been an only cat since he prefers to cuddle with me in private. We'll see how things work out. Right now they are sleeping on one of the love seats together.

I still haven't decided what I will be doing for TV, internet, phone services when I move next week. Who has the best bargains locally?
